Java 8 is bringing a number of new features, the most well publicized being Lambda Expressions. However, there are a number of other features coming in Java 8 that will make life as a Java developer easier as well -- interfaces with method bodies and a new Time API based on the Joda Time open source library. This talk will cover how to get the most out of these new features and the new opportunities they offer.

Jim Bethancourt has been a software developer for over 8 years and has been the President of the Houston Java Users Group for 6 years. He is also SCJP 5 and SCEA 5 Certified and has spoken at the JavaOne and Houston TechFest conferences and at HJUG meetings.

Suggested Parking:

Park across the street in the parking garage on Elgin on the 7th or 8th floor, taking a parking receipt as you enter the parking garage. Parking is free after 7:00 PM, so you won't have to pay as you exit. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor of the parking garage and walk across the sky bridge. The HJUG meeting will be on the 2nd floor on the left just before you reach the elevator bank.
